I’m Bryan. I’m a husband, a daddy, a cook,
a future Seventh-day Adventist pastor, and most importantly a follower of Jesus.
This is a blog about searching and finding our Core in Jesus, family,
theology, and discipleship. Growing up I had an identity crisis. The lingering
question that always stuck with me was, “what makes you, you?” I didn’t know. I
didn’t know who I was or why I would do the things that I did, good or bad. But
more than that, I didn’t know how to find the answer. My core values were to me,
well, non-existent, or at least well-hidden. The feeling of being lost in the
sea of identity, with no anchor point, led to confusion and a lack of putting
forth any positive effort in life. No recognizable core values equated to
structure-less, meaningless, permissive living. When you think about it, these
negatives were my value system. It was a Core that was void of life and
power.
That all changed when I found Jesus, when
He gave me a family, when He gave me truth to stand on, and when He gave me a
reason to share that truth in love.
The purpose of this blog is to continue the
journey of solidifying my Core, but more so for others to find their Core
in Jesus. I'll be writing on all four of these values (Jesus, Family,
Theology, & Discipleship). We will look at themes from Jesus’ life and His
methods of living. Topics on family and the Christian home will be talked about.
I have a passion for mining Scripture of its precious truths; therefore, theology
is a foundational value to my life and will also be to this blog. Discipleship (including
leadership) will be another important topic. We cannot expect to set forth good
theology without putting it into practice.
My sincere hope is for all who come into contact with this blog will be prompted to seek Jesus, our Lord and Savior. God says it best, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart” (Jer. 29:13, ESV). If we seek Him with all of our hearts, it is there where you and I will find our Core.
We have all sought, looking to fill that empty feeling that is so hard to fill with anything except the Love and the values of Christ. Christians that have lost their way struggle in feeding that void that is so ever present when we lose our solid ways in Christ. Awesome, Bryan
